What's this Japanese movie called?

I remember seeing a movie on the plane to the US, from Japan, and it
was pretty awesome. It was a Japanese movie, and the title is
something like this (I've translated it to English, of course): 1746
Stories for My Wife and I.

I'm not sure of the last two integers of that number, but I'm
absolutely sure of the first two. The story line goes like this: a
husband's wife gets cancer, and because he wants to make her laugh
more, he writes a story every day for her. The guy is pretty weird.
He's really a sci-fi writer, and he's quite the imaginative one.

Note: I'm not completely sure of the title, that's why I'm asking you
what it is. I only know the title is SOMETHING like that.
