Mediaproduccion's emergence from protection might have effects for individuals regions of Mediapro. Making obvious its financial status, it facilitates Mediapro's ongoing co-output of A-list auteurs. Grossing $56.2 million Stateside, Allen's finest-ever U.S. trawl, "Evening time" might be the 2nd from the three-pic co-production deal between Mediapro and Gravier, possessed by Allen's sister, Letty Aronson. Mediapro also backed Spain's Versatil, a co-producer on "Carnage," which made $3.4 million in the united states through 12 ,. 19. Mediapro's soccer biz ambitions are less apparent. Its flagship pay DTT funnel, Gol TV, saw 1.7 million site site visitors in November, nearly two occasions people for soccer service Canal Plus Liga, moved by Prisa satcaster Digital Plus. 'Mission: Impossible' tops Friday B.O.

'Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol'Paramount's "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" conquered a crowded Friday Stateside against three major openers with more to come this holiday weekend. Actioner grossed $9.7 million yesterday."Ghost Protocol" expanded Wednesday after a weekend of exclusively large-format playdates. Pic has earned $25.1 million since Wednesday, and $42.2 million domestically to date. Its six-day Wednesday-to-Monday haul will likely land just north of $50 million, putting it on top for the long frame.Par's pic is followed by a pair of holdover sequels. Warner Bros.' "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" grossed $6.4 million yesterday, while Fox's "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" earned another $5.4 million. Both in their second frame, they've cumed $65.5 million and $42.3 million, respectively.Sony's gritty "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" adaptation grossed $4.6 million yesterday. Earlier this week, B.O. experts predicted a tighter race between "Dragon Tattoo" and "Ghost Protocol," but the former's R rating is holding it back during the family holiday. Still, with high interest among adults, it has the most to gain from soft Christmas Eve business today. In fifth, "The Adventures of Tintin" (distribbed domestically by Par) earned $3.5 million yesterday. Pic opened internationally eight weeks ago and has cumed more than $237 million overseas, so its more modest domestic bow -- pundits are putting its six-day total close to $20 million -- shouldn't trouble worldwide distributors Par and Sony too much.Cameron Crowe's "We Bought a Zoo" opened yesterday, earning just $3 million for Fox. Its four-day haul should fall in the low teens through Monday.Still to come, Disney's "War Horse," Summit's "The Darkest Hour" and Par's "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" all bow Christmas Day, looking to benefit from increased moviegoing traffic in the week following the holiday. Matt Damon Still Bourne - Or Really wants to Be, Anyway

Despite the frustration and angst venting through the franchise’s erstwhile star, Matt Damon hasn’t quit hope of reprising his role as super-spy Jason Bourne: “I think if [Bourne Legacy] doesn’t work, we are able to just neglected and pretend it didn’t happen, which’d be fine. However I expect that it'll work and just allow us to as we did a different one, that we’d like to do.” With Paul Greengrass rather than Tony Gilroy, obviously, but anyway. Hang your hopes accordingly. [THR]

Critic's Guide to Wednesday TV: Nearing the End of Survivor and X Factor

Ozzy Lusth, Edna Ma Some thoughts about what's on tonight, starting with the reality contests. Was CBS' Survivor just teasing us with that trailer that showed Edna the Meek possibly upsetting Ozzy the Cocky in the next Redemption Island challenge? We'll believe it when we see it, but it would be nice for something unexpected to happen. The final Upolu 5 have stayed boringly, rigidly loyal to their game plan the last few weeks, but now that it's down to the next-to-last episode (8/7c) - the finale airs as the usual multi-hour extravaganza on Sunday - all bets presumably are off. Could anything keep Coach from making the finals? And if Ozzy somehow is bounced as well, that would make the climactic tribal council more interesting - which isn't the same as memorable. As Fox's The X Factor (8/7c) tries to recover from last week's debacle, the final 4 - improbably still including Marcus Canty - will sing songs chosen by fans. If viewers really had the power, don't you think they'd rather vote for a chance to kick the useless Nicole Scherzinger off that judging panel? Too spineless to concede that little Rachel Crow blew Marcus away in last week's sing-off, or maybe too unwilling to throw a vote Simon Cowell's way, she's responsible for last week's train-wreck meltdown, as usual poorly stage-managed by the hapless Steve Jones. Can they all top themselves this week? Want more TV news? Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now! If you ask me, I'd rather watch what's happening on Bravo. On the addictive Work of Art: The Next Great Artist (9/8c), the contestants get out of the city, heading to a small burg in the Hudson Valley for inspiration from the locals. ... And there's a double elimination on Top Chef: Texas (10/9c), as the chef-testants pair up to cook wild game for a group of famous chefs. This season is turning out to be a nightmare for any vegans in the home audience. Barbara Walters says she's taken some flack for including the Kardashians among her 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011 (ABC, 9:31/8:31c) in this year's special that throws yet another spotlight on the famous and, in this case, infamous. Also on her list: Simon Cowell, Modern Family "couple" Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, Derek Jeter, Katy Perry, Pippa Middleton and (my deal-breaker) Donald Trump. Who's No. 1? I'll probably find out on Twitter. Earlier in the night, ABC repeats one of the funniest episodes all season of the underappreciated The Middle (8/7c), in which Frankie (award-worthy Patricia Heaton) has a complete - and understandable - meltdown after being put in one of the most disgustingly humiliating domestic situations you can imagine, and which would keep anyone in their right mind from ever blindly finishing off a bag of chips again. Mama's so traumatized she runs back to her own mom (Marsha Mason), but eventually, family will win out. What choice does she have? In CBS crime land, Criminal Minds (9/8c) takes a potentially romantic turn when Hotch runs into a fetching art curator (Bellamy Young of Dirty Sexy Money) while training for a triathlon. Guest stars in the murder-of-the-week storyline, set against Philly's boxing scene, include Charles S. Dutton and Southland's Shawn Hatosy. ... And here's a question I never expected to be asking regarding CSI (10/9c): Who's that naked dead guy in crusty old Dr. Robbins' bed? The coroner (Robert David Hall) takes a rare turn at center stage when his wife finds a naked man in their master bedroom. But who'll do the icky autopsy? So what else is on? ... Vivien (poor, poor Connie Britton) gives birth on FX's execrable American Horror Story (10/9c), while Tate and Violet try to rid the Murder House of some of its laughable overabundance of ghosts. ... Jason Priestley and Jennifer Finnigan play grifters, and Arrested Development's Tony Hale is among their victims, on the winter finale of USA Network's Psych (10/9c). The episode is titled "Neil Simon's Lover's Retreat," which indicates that Shawn and Juliet's romantic getaway to a posh resort will be played for laughs - until they're robbed and a dead body is found at a nearby winery. ... If you're the sort who fast-forwards through shows to get to the ads, then treat yourself to TBS' annual Funniest Commercials of the Year special (10/9c), hosted by Old Spice front-stud Isaiah Mustafa. One of 10 finalists in an online contest, including Volkswagen's memorable "The Force," will be named the winner. ... Chelsea Clinton's media blitz continues this week, as she hosts George Balanchine's production of The Nutcracker in a PBS Live From Lincoln Center special (check local listings). It competes with yet another entry in Ovation's weeklong Battle of the Nutcrackers (8/7c), this one from the Berlin State Opera Ballet. Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now!

'New Year's Eve' 'Saturday Evening Live' Sketch Sets All-Star Love Story Against Apocalypse (VIDEO)

.publish-content img Because it works out, possibly there have been a lot of stars in 'New Year's Eve' to interact audiences. The Garry Marshall-directed film gained just $13.7 million over the past weekend, under the outlet day grosses of 'Valentine's Day.' If perhaps 'New Year's Eve' featured Came Barrymore, Alan Alda, Cuba Gooding Junior., Al Roker, Christina Aguilera, Paulie Walnuts, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and also the finish of humanity! A minimum of that is what the great folks at 'Saturday Evening Live' presented throughout the Katy Perry-located edition, which mocked 'New Year's Eve' -- despite, or possibly because, mind author Seth Meyers really seems within the underwhelming romcom. RATINGS RAT RACE: Frosty Tops, Chuck Rises, Grimm Steady

Frosty was the (snow) man last night. Forty two-year-old cartoon Frosty The Snowman (1.9/7 in adults 18-49, 7.3 million viewers) steamrolled the competition to rank as the top program of the night in both 18-49 and total viewers. It was one of four holiday specials CBS aired last night, followed by a Blue Bloods rerun. NBC and ABC were the only networks to air their regular Friday lineups in originals. NBC’s Chuck (1.0/3) inched up a tenth from the series low it hit in its most recent outing 3 weeks ago. Grimm (1.6/5) held steady, even with its last Friday telecast 3 weeks ago and the special Thursday 10 PM airing this week. Dateline (1.6/5) closed out the night for NBC at 10 PM. NBC (1.4/4, 4.9 million) pulled off a rare No.1 finish, tied with CBS (1.4/4, 6.4 million) in adults 18-49. ABC ran back-to-back episodes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (1.1/4, 1.5/4, on par with last week), followed by 20/20 (1.3/4). Fox and the CW ran repeats.

REVIEW: Jonah Hill, The Sitter Offer (Mostly) Inoffensive, Forgettable Fun

Having begun his career as American independent film’s great hope with delicate, languid features like George Washington and All the Real Girls, David Gordon Green has devoted the last few years to turning out goofball stoner comedies that, aside from their hip and very current casts, could seem like forgotten oddball ’80s artifacts discovered in a box of dusty VHS tapes at a garage sale. While it’s not a career trajectory anyone who went googly-eyed over his early output would have guessed for him, there’s an unmistakable undercurrent of glee to these recent films that suggests Green — who still works with many of the crew members with which he started, including composer David Wingo and DP Tim Orr — is having a great time making exactly the type of movies he wants to. How fun they are to actually watch is a knottier question. Pineapple Express was hazy, sloppy fun, but Your Highness felt like one long inside joke no one deigned to explain. The Sitter pulls back from the latter’s sometimes jarring abrasiveness and aims to sprinkle sweetness and reconciliation between the laughs — without, this time, putting them in air quotes. It succeeds at tickling the funny bone and warming the heart, though it’s not terribly good at either — The Sitter’s a lazy ramble of a movie that’s amusing enough to hold your gaze for 81 minutes while leaving you feeling a little cheated when it’s over. Jonah Hill’s slimmed down considerably in the months since shooting this movie, but as genial waster Noah Griffith he still looks like a child’s drawing of a person — a small circle on top of a large circle from which legs and arms directly extend. Noah’s living at home in the suburbs of NY with his single mom (Jessica Hecht), having been kicked out of college for reasons left fuzzy. Whatever his misbehaviors, there’s never a doubt that he’s a fundamentally good kid who’s run temporarily aground, and that sense of underlying softness dulls the edge of The Sitter’s attempt comedy. Noah may not be the greatest choice to take care of children and may make some seriously dumb decisions, but he’s of course going to fix his own mess, even when that own mess involves an angry but hug-happy drug dealer named Karl (Sam Rockwell) and $10,000 in cocaine. Noah’s pursuing a doomed entanglement with neighborhood girl Marisa (Ari Graynor), who keeps him around for physical favors (which she refuses to return) while still being fixated on her ex-boyfriend. It’s her suggestion he pick up some drugs and join her at a party in Brooklyn that starts the night on its course toward disaster, since Noah’s already been roped into babysitting the three children of family friends so that his mom can accompany the parents to a swank party where’s she going to be introduced to a romantic prospect. he kids are cartoons, but amusingly contemporary ones: Little Blithe (Landry Bender) lacquers herself with makeup and talks like a pre-pubescent Paris Hilton nightmare. Explosives-happy adopted Hispanic sibling Rodrigo (Kevin Hernandez) acts like he’s a refugee from a drug cartel, though his inexplicable costume of choice involves yellow pajamas and cowboy boots. And 13-year-old Slater is a jumble of anxiety and angst, carrying his meds around in a fanny pack. Played by Where the Wild Things Are’s Max Records, Slater’s not at all funny, but does provide some heartfelt emotional distress that’s poignant and probably better suited to some other movie. So The Sitter’s nightlong obstacle course is set — wrangle children, buy coke, get money together to placate the dealer when things go wrong, and finish in time to join Marisa at a party and finally consummate that pseudo-relationship. These goals take the four on a journey through lower Manhattan and actual Brooklyn neighborhoods, including South Slope, Greenpoint and Bushwick — the film’s sense of NY, and of being a suburban kid who may head there to play but has to eventually leave and head home at the end of the night, is one of its best qualities. Its worst is its weird treatment of race, which beyond Rodrigo’s ridiculousness includes Noah’s triumphant winning over of a group of black friends by letting himself get punched in the face — “I feel so cool right now,” he declares. Perhaps attesting to that white-kid inferiority complex is the soundtrack — Noah Griffith’s infinite playlist involves songs by 2 Live Crew, Slick Rick, The Sugarhill Gang and Biz Markie, perfect for a Long Island kid who prefers his hip hop comfortably old-school. Childhood resentments are aired, revelations are had, and age is come of by the end of The Sitter, with an oddly anticlimactic conclusion that never ties into the geomagnetic storm set to happen that night that the characters have spent a fair amount of time talking about. All the ends are easily tied away, and seemingly major disruptions are forgotten as soon as it’s time for bed — which is about as quickly, one guesses, as this movie will fade from mind. 'Bachelor' Producers Sue Spoiler Website for Soliciting Info Leaks from Contestants (Exclusive)

Ray Mickshaw/FOX A former Universal Network Television employee might soon get to bring to a jury claims that behind the scenes of TV show House there's "hard-drinking, over-sexed, cussing, gun-toting males" who made life difficult for her.our editor recommends'House' Star Hugh Laurie Says He'll Retire From TV Acting Once Show EndsOlivia Wilde Makes Final 'House' Appearance Monday: 'I See It as a Really Important Chapter in My Life' (Video) In July 2010,Carl Jones, who spent four years working as an assistant property master on the Fox medical mystery show, suedHouseproducer Universal and two of its staffers, claiming that he was victim to sexual harassment and was fired when he spoke up about allegedly obnoxious behavior on the part of his supervisors. After nearly a year and a half of extensive discovery and pre-trial motions, Los Angeles Superior Court JudgeRichard Fruinindicated last week his willingness to have a jury decide whether Jones was retaliated against for objecting to a hostile workplace. Jones makes some wild allegations in his lawsuit about back-stage behavior on the show. He targets his supervisorsTyler PattonandMike Caseyfor repeated bad acts and says his genitals were groped and that he was called a "bitch," "faggot," "slave," and "pussy." In the prop trailer where Jones worked, the plaintiff alleges that adult magazines and adult movies were around and that his supervisors were hard drinkers who would invite females from the wardrobe and other production departments there to engage in sexual activity. Jones allegeshe was forced to clean up semen and condom wrappers and was ridiculed when he declined to go out to a nearby off-set strip club. The set ofHouseis also described as a dangerous place to work. Against Universal's policies, Patton allegedly brought a real gun there and would throw knifes in between bouts of tequila drinking. Jones says he was fired in March 2010, by an extremely drunk Patton, after which he complained to Garret van der Meer, the show's co-executive producer/unit production manager. Jones says his complaints were ignored, and the former staffer believes that speaking up about what was going on, including contacting his union, led to retaliation, included being "blackballed from all Universal Productions." Jones says he scored another job after his dismissal, but as a result of being placed on a blacklist, he wasn't able to get access to the Fox lot, so he then lost that second job. Universal wanted a summary judgment dismissal of this lawsuit, saying that Jones had failed to exhaust his administrative remedies, that his claims were time-barred, and that the plaintiff couldn't show "discriminatory motive based on his gender or perceived sexual orientation." The studio said that each season was an independent one in terms of employment and that the decision to not rehire Jones for Season 7 of House couldn't be tied to Jones' allegations of sexual innuendo on the set. The defendant believes that Jones' theories about why he was dismissed are merely speculative. For their part,Patton and Casey vigorously denied they engaged in the above-described offensive conduct. At a hearing last week, Judge Fruin considered some of the evidence submitted in depositions so far and tentatively decided there are enough triable issues to reject Universal's motions to dismiss discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims. He threw out claims based on the Unruh Civil Rights Act, and asked for additional briefings for a hearing scheduled for December 16. If the judge sticks to his tentative ruling, the case could be on track to be heard by a jury next year. Patty Jenkins Off Thor 2

Norse god hero seeks new directorAnd that's strike two for the Norse warrior god! Yep, just when it looked like Marvel might have found someone to wrangle Thor, his feuding family and Natalie Portman's Jane back on the screen, Patty Jenkins has decided to leave the job of directing Thor 2.Word of Jenkins kicking off talks to take the job surfaced in September, with the surprise news that the director of Monster really was itching to tackle the superhero sequel. Hers was the first confirmed name after rumours circulated that Game Of Thrones veteran Brian Kirk might be the man for the gig. Now, though, thanks to those pesky creative differences, Jenkins is bidding adieu to Asgard. Deadline reports that she may well show up calling the shots for another Marvel superhero project, but not a sequel.Cue a mad scramble and Marvel's executives hitting the contacts book as the studio (and distribution partners Disney) have a locked in November 2013 release date to meet and no one at the helm. When Jenkins' name first surfaced, it emerged that she'd beaten out the likes if Drew Goddard, James McTeigue and Breck Eisner for the position, so perhaps we'll see one of them announced next.Chris Hemsworth is set to return as the titular hero, and we'd expect to see Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman and, depending on what happens with Loki in The Avengers, possibly Tom Hiddleston back in some capacity.

Universal Potter plan draws toasts

Raising mugs of butterbeer Tuesday morning, studio chiefs from Warner Bros. and Universal, in addition to California Gov. Jerry Brown, toasted intends to develop a Wizarding Realm of Harry Potter park at Universal Galleries Hollywood. "Hogwarts is visiting Hollywood," browse the marquee in the Globe Theater throughout the presentation. The designed Potter park in Orlando, Fla., which instantly grew to become a high draw at Universal's Islands of chance, if this opened up in June 2010, may also be "greatly broadened," based on Universal Parks and Resorts chairman-Boss Tom Williams, and "build upon the great experience that already is available" there. Warner Bros. chairman-Boss Craig Meyer stated, "The way forward for Harry Potter is searching better today than ever beforeInch which, using the new park plans, the franchise is "entering the next thing of the items Harry Potter way to its loyal audience." No date has yet been set on once the L.A. project or Orlando expansion will get started. First park was introduced in 2007 and opened up this year. Executives at both galleries were keeping a good lid on specifics, saying many particulars remained as being completed and plans could be introduced sometime the coming year. Universal continues to be wrestling with lengthy-term expansion plans for a long time, working carefully using the city and communities to appease fears of traffic congestion. The designed area in Hollywood, that will replicate Hogwarts castle, Hogsmeade village as well as other shops from J.K. Rowling's books and WB's movies and will be offering rides, will probably replace existing regions of the present park. Universal's Hollywood amusement park is much more limited in space than U's two Florida parks for big-scale points of interest such as the Wizarding Realm of Harry Potter. But U is wanting to make room for that designed area because the Orlando version has consistently damaged attendance and purchasers records since opening. Additional versions are now being considered for U's overseas parks. Universal is presently creating a three dimensional ride according to Paramount's "Transformers" franchise that opens early in the year, changing the previous home of "Backdraft" along with other points of interest. The Potter park can give U another attraction to contend with Disneyland's massive Cars Land, which opens next summer time in Anaheim. New addition is anticipated to cost "hundreds of million dollars," using the first park's cost, and generate a lot more than 1,000 jobs, stated Universal Galleries prexy-chief operating officer Ron Meyer. Meyer added the Potter park "as set a brand new standard in designed entertainment and can alter the face of tourism in Los Angeles.Inch Universal Galleries Hollywood already creates $4.4 billion for that La economy every year, stated L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky in the event. "As leaders in municipality, you should be protective from the movie industry," he added, "and double lower on L.A.'s way forward for cultural tourism." Brown recognized the plans, saying, "It is a great day whenever we see purchase of California among all of the negative people out there. California is really a mythic place. Its very title comes with an aura that pulls people here. The film industry keeps hope alive and us taking into consideration the unpredicted. We are a classic condition of imagination, which Harry Potter park pushes us in the future." La Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who spoke throughout a pre-recorded segment while marketing tourism to L.A. in Beijing, also famous the plans. "Without doubt that La and Gryffindor are among the same," he stated. Also inside a recorded segment, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer excited from the park's expansion plans there, saying, "We have already seen the energy of the brand." Also available in the event were WB's Shaun Robinov, Diane Nelson, Kevin Tsujihara and Kaira Globe. Contact Marc Graser at marc.graser@variety.com

They're all fighting for the role of Eponine in Tom Hooper's upcoming musical adaptation of "Les Miserables." The NY Post reports that all four actresses have already auditioned for the part, and they're just waiting for Hooper's decision. The actress who gets chosen will join Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne in the previously announced cast. "Ender's Game" Makes More Casting Decisions Unsurprisingly, Deadline is reporting that "Hugo" star Asa Butterfield has been confirmed for the title role in "Ender's Game." What is a bit more unexpected and exciting, though, is the news from Variety that Harrison Ford is director Gavin Hood's top choice to play Colonel Hyrum Graff. While Hood is also looking at other actors as back-ups, it would be pretty freaking exciting to have Ford join this project. "Bridget Jones' Baby" Gets A Director With the recent announcement from Deadline that Paul Cattaneo will helm the third installment in the "Bridget Jones' Diary" series, called "Bridget Jones' Baby," Colin Firth has now boxed himself in to star in the film. Presumably all the main cast -- Firth, Renee Zellweger and Hugh Grant -- will be back for the romcom, but in a recent interview with MTV News, Firth admitted that he's "reconciled to the inevitability" that he'll return to form as Mr. Darcy. Honestly, we couldnt picture it any other way. Julia Roberts Gets Her "Second Act" The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Julia Roberts will both produce and star in New Regency's upcoming workplace comedy "Second Act." The film apparently "centers on a woman who has never worked and is forced to take a job." Roberts will produce with her Red Om Films label.
